Creativity & Design Blog Synthesis
I enjoyed exploring my creativity this semester. Not only did I learn to open my mind to inventing new ideas, I learned to build on those ideas without doubting my own capabilities. Something I really enjoyed was finding out what inspired me and using that inspiration to explore creative possibilities (https://crgriego.weebly.com/ ). Also, I have made things that were both familiar and unfamiliar to me. One of my favorite familiar techniques I used was "upcycling". As shown in my Blog post #1, I upcycled a broken picture frame into a hair assessor holder ( https://youtu.be/LsDY6dm7IoE ). Now I find myself thinking twice before I dispose broken items of any sort just because it lost its original purpose. All of my blog projects have contributed to my creativity. But, I have also found my creativity to be challenging on occasions. I tend to find myself in a war with ideas that end with writers block. Through the Creative Design course I am finding efficient ways to overcome these challenges and have used the "pivot" and "Zig-Zag" strategies to redirect focus on my blog projects when they were leading nowhere or when proven to not be productive ( “Focus on Specific Tasks,” page 23 in Sawyer, K. (2013). Zig zag: The surprising path to greater creativity: John Wiley & Sons). I plan to use my new found knowledge of creativity in my daily life. I now have a better knowledge on how to use creative problem solving to assist in my day to day challenges and/or needs such as tricky projects, making exercise fun, workforce opportunities, and even healthy cooking for children. |
